It takes strategic planning
One of Birthchoice’s most important strategic goals is to be located near an abortion facility. When pregnancy resource centers like Birthchoice are close to an abortion clinic, the number of abortions go down.
It was a frustrating 3 years after the abortion facility on Haworth closed, near our old location, for Birthchoice to be able to find our new location, near the abortion facility on Drake Circle.
And an increase in cost
The biggest reason was the increase for medical office space near Rex Hospital. Every possible location close by was leasing at a premium. In addition we were busting at the seams, with not enough space to see our clients and accommodate our growing staff and volunteers. The result is over a 200 percent increase in cost – to be close by and to accommodate our growth.
To rescue more women and children
The first six weeks at our new location we had 12 rescues from the abortion facility on Drake Circle– approximately 2 per week. At our old location we had 29 rescues for the whole of 2013! So, how much does one rescue cost based on the increase in our budget– One rescue at our new space cost approximately $1600
To save more mothers and babies
How much does it cost to save one mother and child? $736
78 percent of the women of our clients at risk for abortion last year decided to have their babies after viewing an ultrasound.
To continue to offer the best care to women
How much does it cost Birthchoice to operate for one day – open 5 days per week ? $1300
